Islamic Studies

Our Islamic Studies course is focused on Fiqh, or Islamic law, which is one of the most important areas of Islamic studies. Based on the Quran and the Sunnah, this course will engage students with deep understanding and practical application of Islamic law.

Our Islamic Studies course is focused on Fiqh, or Islamic law, which is one of the most important areas of Islamic studies. Based on the Quran and the Sunnah, this course will engage students with deep understanding and practical application of Islamic law. Fiqh is framework that governs Muslims’ daily lives. This course contains detailed rules for social interactions, legal matters, individual conduct, and religious activities.
During this course, students will be equipped with a discipline that will assist them in managing their ethical and religious duties and will help them make sure that their deeds are in accordance with Allah SWT’s will. The students will take part in a range of activities, from tutor-led activities to student-led work. They will focus on the following topics:
o the five pillars of Islam and develop and understanding of each pillar
o Demonstrate the method of performing Salah
o Distinguish between the sunan of Qiyam, ruku’, sajdah and qa’idah in salah
o Distinguish between the different types of nafl salah and the times they should be performed and their virtues.
o Distinguish between the mustahabbat and makruhat of salah
o Demonstrate the method of Sajdah as-Sahw
o Demonstrate the correct method of making niyyah
o Recall what to do when having doubts in salah and when to make Sajdah as-Sahw
o Know the process of a sutrah and list the conditions that it should meet
o Recognise the places of Sajdah Tilawah in the Qur’an and demonstrate how to carry out a Sajdah Tilawah.
o Explain the importance of praying Salah with Jama’ah
o Recognise how Eid Salah is different from other Salah
o Discuss the method of performing Jumu'ah Salah and it's rulings
o Call out the adhan and iqamah correctly.
o Summarise the full method of salah with all its conditions and practically demonstrate it.
o Demonstrate when and how Salatul Witr, Salatul Qasr , Salatul Madhur and Salatul Marid are performed
o Explain what is Taraweeh Salah
o Describe in detail the difference types of Salah explaining the conditions which define them: Salatul Kusuf, Salatul Khusuf, Qasar Salah, Salatul Marid and Salatul Ma’dhur
o Recall the actions required for a janazah i.e. ghusl, shrouding, burial and the method of Janazah Salah.
o Understand different types of Zakah
o Summarise the points relating to Zakah and inheritance.
o Recognise actions that doesn’t break the fast
o Discuss the people excused from fasting
o Explain what Fidyah is and when it must be paid.
o Memorise the requirements for umrah
o List the actions in each of the five days of hajj
o Summarise udhiyyah and its conditions.
o Explain the importance of Ziyarah
o Outline the rulings regarding I’tikaf.
o Highlight the importance of Laylatul Qadr
o Describe all the types of impurities and how to clean them
o Understand taharah and practise it in everyday life
o Understna the concept of Istijah & different ways to perform Istinjah
o Perform istinjah with water with & without water
o Recall and List the number of pre-conditions, fara’id, sunan, makruhat and nawaqid of Wudu’.
o Indicate the method of doing masah on wounds
o Explain and perform the method of wudu
o Summarise what tayammum is and when it is used
o Highlight the miscellaneous points of wudu
o Demonstrate how to perform tayammum, illustrating which parts are fard and when tayammum will be nullified
o Define the key terms of Fiqh
o Distinguish between the fara’id and sunan of ghusl
o Remember the fard and miscellaneous points of ghusl.
o Distinguish between the three different times water is used to attain taharah
o Name the various key words along with their respective meanings
o Define the types of water and their limitations to purify
o Summarise the laws of maturity
