Arabic Language

Our GCSE Arabic language course helps students to improve their knowledge and skills in listening, reading, speaking, writing, and understanding Arabic language as well as improve their understanding of Arabic culture, so they get the best results in their exams. We use past paper questions from a range of different exam boards including AQA, OCR and EdExcel to inform our GCSE Arabic language course.

GCSE Arabic Language Course Topics
During our GCSE Arabic language course, students will take part in a range of activities, from tutor-led activities to student-led work. They will focus on the topics in which they feel they need most help with but also on those that commonly cause students difficulty from the topics below:
Listening and understanding in Arabic
● identify the overall message, key points, details and opinions
● deduce meaning from a variety of spoken texts
● recognise the relationship between past, present and future events
Reading and understanding in Arabic
● recognise and respond to key information, important themes and ideas in spoken text, including authentic sources, adapted and abridged, as appropriate
● be able to answer questions, extract information, evaluate and draw conclusions.
● convey information and narrate events coherently and confidently, using and adapting language for different purposes
Speaking in Arabic
● speak spontaneously, responding to unpredictable questions, points of view or situations, sustaining communication by using rephrasing or repair strategies, as appropriate
Writing in Arabic
● use a range of vocabulary and grammatical structures accurately, including some more complex forms, with reference to past, present and future events
● make creative and more complex use of the language, as appropriate, to express and justify their own thoughts and points of view
● use accurate pronunciation and intonation in order to be understood by a native speaker, however they will be able to access the highest marks available for each task without a ‘perfect’ command of Arabic.
All our tutors are qualified teachers with extensive experienced and all of them are state-school teachers, which means that they have an excellent insight into what the exams actually ask of students. Chosen for their enthusiasm and empathy, they also have an in-depth knowledge of the entire subject area.
